Pretty Bean Coffee Co. began as a small passion project with one mission: to create a mobile coffee company in the UK that clients could trust for great coffee, genuine hospitality and exceptional customer service wherever it was needed. What started with one van and a barista toolkit has grown into a respected independent coffee company supporting film productions, corporate events, commercials, photo shoots and private clients across the country.
But before any coffee vans were built or any bookings were made, there was simply one person, one idea and a love for speciality coffee that shaped everything Pretty Bean Coffee Co. has become.
How It All Started
I am Ryan, Founder and Director of Pretty Bean Coffee Co. My first job in hospitality was washing dishes at age thirteen in a local pub, a world away from running a mobile coffee bar or serving espresso on film sets. Those early years gave me my first taste of the service industry and taught me the value of hard work and consistency.
At sixteen, I pursued a chef apprenticeship between Westminster College and Rules, London’s oldest restaurant. Working in professional kitchens gave me a deep respect for quality ingredients, teamwork and the pace of service. Unsure of which route to take, I spent several years freelancing across hotels, restaurants and event companies across the UK. Those experiences shaped my understanding of hospitality and introduced me to the importance of good communication, timing and presentation.
Everything changed when I began working in the film industry. Long days, early mornings, and the need for efficient, high-quality craft services made me realise how essential coffee was for the crew. Yet what was often missing was delicious coffee made properly.
With the rise in American-backed productions and the growing expectations on set, the industry needed more than instant coffee or low-quality machines. It needed a mobile barista in London who understood the pace of production. That gap was clear, and I became determined to fill it.
In 2018, I trained as a barista, invested in a mobile coffee van and founded Pretty Bean Coffee Co. An independent mobile coffee company. The aim was simple: create a dependable and personable mobile coffee business offering speciality coffee for people who truly valued it.
From One Van to a Nationally Trusted Coffee Service
What began as a single van now operates as a multi-vehicle service supporting shoots across the UK. Productions including Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV Plus, BBC and Warner Bros choose Pretty Bean Coffee Co. because our standards never change, no matter how big the job is.
As our client base grew, so did the type of events we worked on. Today we support product launches, exhibitions, commercials, photo shoots, conferences, weddings and corporate activations. We also introduced a mobile coffee cart option for indoor and compact venues, along with mobile coffee bar setups for high footfall events.
